Job Title / Company:
Director of Financial Services Strategic Business Unit, Capgemini

Undergraduate Degree: BS Electrical Engineering, Visvesvaraya Technological University (India)

Why did you choose your program and area of study?

As an engineer who was interested in the business of leading engineering, I wanted to educate myself at the intersection of business and engineering. Very glad I did the course, because the future lies at the intersection of these 2 fields.

Briefly describe your Duke Experience.

Probably one of the best years of my life. I had some of my most memorable moments, my most value-add in terms of education, and some of my best friends for life, all discovered in this 1 marvelous year at Duke!

What impact has the degree had on your career?

Accelerated career growth with a much steeper trajectory than what I would have otherwise had.

More importantly, it helps me understand the technical/ engineering teams as well as the business teams at my job much better, and has made me a very effective bridge between the two.

What advice would you give to prospective applicants - those who are just beginning to explore graduate options at Duke?

Be very clear on why you want to do what you want to do. If you want to pick up any course just because your friends are applying for it, or you think its cool, or you think it will help you make some extra money, you probably aren't thinking this through too well.

What advice would you give to admitted students who are considering Duke?

Prepare for the best year of your life! :D

On a more serious note, now that you are (almost) here, think about what you can do to get the most out of not just the academic course, but also everything else that's fabulous that Duke has to offer. It's a once in a lifetime experience, and you just have to make the most of it.

Try to have an equal focus on education, fun, and most importantly, NETWORKING!!
