Why did you choose your program and area of study?

My work years after undergrad helped me realize that I more driven towards the business and customer facing aspects of the tech industry. The Master of Engineering Management at Duke seemed like a program that could offer me a platform to prepare me well in those areas. I had several conversations with alumni and current students at Duke and in the Triangle area, and was impressed with their passion and authenticity of advice offered. The decision to join Duke turned out to be a great one and has helped me get closer to the personal and professional goals I set for myself.

Briefly describe your Duke Experience.

In one word, my Duke Experience has been 'Phenomenal'. In addition to offering world-class education and access to renowned professors, the part that stands out to me is the extensive network of Duke alums and students with diverse backgrounds and cultures that Duke helps us connect to. Also, the flexibility to audit some of the classes outside the regular curriculum and from other schools allowed me to better understand the career path I wanted to take in future.

The Duke Experience does not end at graduation since the well-connected network is well within your reach with the multiple regional alumni groups that enable support and continued learning from fellow alums.

What impact has the degree had on your career?

The Duke brand is highly respected in the industry. There is an extensive Alumni network to offer support and advice when in need. Personally, a degree from Duke been an important factor to help me reach where I am right now. In addition to enhancing my professional life, it has helped me build life-long friendships and get more involved in community outreach programs to give back to society.

What advice would you give to admitted students who are considering Duke?

Do not restrict yourself based on past education and industry experience.
