When is Residency 1?

August 18-23. Arrive at any time on Sunday, August 18th. You may depart after 2:00 PM on Friday, August 23rd. Residency is required as part of the program, it is not optional.

When do courses start?

Courses will begin the next week on August 26th.

When can I register for courses?

You'll be able to register for courses after you enroll and send your final transcripts to us.

When do I need to pay tuition?

Tuition is billed in the summer. Estimated Tuition and Fees for 2013-2014 is posted online. Payment information is available at http://www.bursar.duke.edu/.

Should I plan to submit the FAFSA?

If you are planning on applying for a federal Stafford or Perkins loan, you can complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form at www.studentloans.gov.

For further information on FAFSA and the U.S. Department of Education’s student aid programs, you may call 1-800-433-3243 seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to midnight (Eastern time). When completing the FAFSA form online, you will be asked for Duke’s Title IV code; it is E00165. Once you have received confirmation that your forms are complete and have been forwarded to the University, a financial aid officer will complete your aid award. If you have any questions during this process, you may contact Ms. Lisa Roop-Wioskowski who manages Graduate Financial Aid at 919-681-3247 or grad-finaid@duke.edu.

What happens during Residency 1?

You will cover will cover a variety of topics including a program introduction, a distance technology overview, business simulation activities, professional development workshops, and case study discussions.

What about housing during Residency 1?

Students will be housed together on Duke's campus at the R. David Thomas Conference Center. Reservations will be made for you by the program and all meals will be provided.

Will you pick us up from the airport?

Students are responsible for initial transportation to and from campus. Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) is located approximately 25 minutes from Duke and is served by many ground transportation options. Transportation for residency activities will be provided.

I have a question-who should I contact?

Questions should be routed through the admissions office for now; we can direct your question to other resources if we cannot answer it directly.

Do I send my official transcripts now?

If you intend to accept the offer of admission and enroll, yes! Erin Degerman will send you a detailed instruction email on this process after you complete your enrollment form.

How can I connect with other incoming students before Residency 1?

If you're on Facebook, we've created a group for the 2013-2015 cohort. Join us to get a head start on knowing your classmates! You'll find that we've already posted information to get things going.

When will I receive information on Residency 1?

Dr. La Tondra Murray, your advisor, will contact you in June to introduce herself and provide an agenda, but if you'd like,you may view a sample residency agenda.

What courses are available this fall?

How can I register for courses?

To register for classes, you will need to sign in to ACES using your NetID and password. For instructions on how to register for classes, please review the ACES- How To Guide. If you have your NetID and Password, you should be eligible to register for classes already.

Where can I find the semester schedule?

The MEM Program follows Duke's Academic Calendar, though our residencies will not be listed on that site.

Who am I likely to hear from in the future?

You may have communicated with Erin Degerman or Susan Brown throughout the application process, but at Duke, you have a wide range of support in student services. You'll be introduced to Student Services over the summer, but for now, meet the rest of the team:

Yes, and our job is the most fun - every year, we take all d-MEMP students to a Durham Bulls game on Tuesday night of Residency 1.
