Wendy Toh is the software development director of the Rational Enterprise Modernization & Compilers portfolio of products at IBM. In this role, Wendy leads a world-wide team responsible for developing IBM compilers as well as multi-platform enterprise modernization tools. After graduating from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science, Wendy joined IBM in 1989 as a software programmer. Since then, she's held a variety of technical and management positions in IBM.
In November of 2000, Wendy accepted her first upline management position leading an organization of system testers, tools developers, and I/T professionals. In January of 2003, Wendy became Program Director of WebSphere Host Integration & Enterprise Transformation responsible for the development of software tools that enable our customers to modernize the user interface of legacy applications and to transform legacy business transactions to web services. Prior to her current role, Wendy was appointed Director of Development, Autonomic Computing, Tivoli Division, Software Group, in October of 2004. Wendy assumed her current responsibilities in March, 2007.
In 2004, Wendy was a finalist for IBM’s Frances Allen Mentoring Award and was recognized as a “Tech All Star” at the 2004 Women of Color in Technology Awards Conference. Wendy is a two-time winner of IBM’s Management Excellence Award in recognition of her people management skills. Most recently, Wendy was presented the 2009 Manager Diversity and Inclusion Award from the IBM Research Triangle Area Diversity Council for her leadership, innovation and an ongoing commitment in creating a climate of diversity volunteerism. Toh will now present “The Top Ten Things I Wish I Knew When I Started at IBM” and share from her experiences. Students will be invited to participate and explore ideas for success and career exploration.
