Edward Marshall


Adjunct Professor

Professor Marshall comes to the Fuqua School of Business and Pratt School of Engineering from a distinguished career in business where for 30 years, he has been Managing Partner of The Marshall Group, LLC, a collaborative leadership consulting and coaching firm based in Chapel Hill, NC. Dr. Marshall has worked in the IT industry with the CIOs of DuPont, Microsoft, VMware, Marriott, Conoco/Phillips and other Fortune 1000 companies. His IT consulting work focused on integrations, business process redesigns, culture transformations, and mergers and acquisitions. He has worked as well with Fortune 100 companies in finance, manufacturing, healthcare, hospitality, and transportation. Dr. Marshall’s international work has been with companies in Europe, South Africa, Ethiopia, Saudi Arabia, Brazil, and Canada. From 2009-13, Dr. Marshall was invited to be a Senior Partner for Organizational Leadership at the Center for Creative Leadership, where he focused on client work, developing a leadership strategy service, and collaborative leadership initiatives.


Professor Marshall holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a Masters from Syracuse University, and a BA from Claremont McKenna College. He has published two business best-selling books on collaborative leadership and change, one of which was a national award winner from the American Management Association, and has co-authored three other books on culture and trust. He also writes a nationally syndicated column for American Cities’ Business Journals on workplace, team, and leadership topics.


Dr. Marshall holds three service marks for his work in developing The Collaborative Method, and has won two prestigious national awards, the Excellence in Organization Development award from the Association for Training and Development, and a Lifetime Achievement Award as a Top 15 Trust Thought Leader from Trust Across America.
